There have been many proposals for paradigm cases of forgiveness, and we now apparently face the danger of a new diversity problem: the diversity of paradigm cases. It has been argued that the paradigm should be the most basic case of a given concept.
In this talk, Wassim Sabry will suggest that rather than thinking of the most basic case of forgiveness as a paradigm, thinking about an ideal of forgiveness offers a better way for identifying a paradigm case that would also enable us to see other cases as derivative of it.
