Join us in remembering and honoring the life and legacy of the remarkable Professor Doris Enright-Clark Shoukri (1926 - 2023), a true icon of the AUC community.
Professor Shoukri dedicated over 60 years of her life to enriching the AUC experience. From her tenure as a distinguished professor of English to her influential administrative roles as Chair of Humanities, Chair of English and Comparative Literature, and founder of the English Language Institute, her impact on the university is immeasurable.
Professor Shoukri also established the esteemed Distinguished Visiting Professor program. Through this initiative, she welcomed renowned international creative writers, fostering a landscape of intellectual exchange.
In addition to her scholarly achievements, Professor Shoukri was a gifted poet and writer of short stories. Even after her retirement, she continued to inspire and guide students as a beloved Professor Emeritus until 2018.
