This Willard W. Brown International Business Leadership Webinar featuring Sherif Kamel, dean, AUC School of Business, is a conversation with Soumitra Dutta, dean elect, Said Business School, Oxford University, professor of management and former founding dean, SC Johnson College of Business, Cornell University, chair, Board of Directors, Global Business School Network (GBSN), about Kamel’s newly released book titled Leading Change in Challenging Times: Lessons of Disruption and Innovation from Egypt – Thoughts, Observations and Reflections.

The book includes a variety of perspectives on being the founding dean of AUC School of Business and leading change while addressing a diverse portfolio of aspects including autonomy; strategy formulation, planning and execution; the invaluable role of human capital; development funds and their impact on creating a culture of innovation, creativity and discovery; institutional development as an organizational edge; the continuing engagement of the alumni network; the journey of continuous improvement, research endeavors, the influence of an environment enriched by international faculty and students and the complementing role of executive education and the creation of a mindset driven by lifelong learning.

Sherif Kamel is a professor of management, dean of the school of Business at the American University in Cairo, board member and former president of the board of governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt. Previously, he was vice president for information management and associate dean for executive education at The American University in Cairo.  Before joining AUC, he was director of the Regional IT Institute, and prior to that, he managed the training department of the Cabinet of Egypt Information and Decision Support Center.  Kamel is an Eisenhower Fellow. He has several board affiliations including co-chairing the board of stewards of the African Women Entrepreneurship Cooperative, a member of the AACSB International MENA Advisory Council, and founding member of the Internet Society of Egypt. Previously, he was a member of the board of the Association of African Business Schools.
