The Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism, School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, is launching the third iteration of AUC’s Arab Science Journalism Forum. 

The Forum is an extension of an institution-wide initiative to develop, implement, and evaluate strategic initiatives across both academia and industry to maintain AUC’s position as Egypt’s global university. This year’s forum will be on “Advancing Science Communication in Challenging Times.” 

Held virtually on Sunday, June 27th, 2021, it will include a discussion on the following pillars:

    - The Future of Media & Public Health.
    - Science Journalism Enabling Informed Decisions.
    - Media & Health: a Global Approach.
    - Collaborative Approaches to Advocating Science. 

The panels, which will include sessions in Arabic and English with simultaneous translation, will comprise a strong lineup of regional and international perspectives from journalists, scientists, governmental and institutional officials, and scholars directly involved in reporting, studying, and implementing communication strategies. 

Panelists include Amr Ellissy, Chairman of the Islamic Broadcasting Union; Alaa Thabet, Editor-in-Chief of Al Ahram; Jonathan Weiner, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and professor at Columbia Journalism School; Nadine El Sayed, science journalist and Associate Professor of journalism at AUC; Ahmed Salman, Immunologist and Virologist at the University of Oxford; and many more.

Our keynote speakers will be Marielza Oliveira, Director of Partnerships and Operational Programme Monitoring in UNESCO’s Communication and Information Sector, and Ehsan Masood, author and Nature’s Africa and Middle East Bureau Chief.
