Elmira Bayrasli, CEO and co-founder of Foreign Policy Interrupted and a professor at Bard College’s Global and International Affairs program and teaches at the City College of New York’s Newmark School of Journalism. Elmira Bayrasli is the author of From the Other Side of the World: Extraordinary Entrepreneurs, Unlikely Places, a book that looks at the rise of entrepreneurship globally.
Nelly El Zayat, for the past 20 years Nelly has been working in international education, specifically in student advising, scholarship management, admissions, curriculum design, e-learning, learner-centered teaching, and on bridging the gap between education and the job market. She has held positions in several educational organizations including AMIDEAST, the Institute of International Education, Georgetown University, and the American University in Cairo. She has been part of the core team working on Education 2.0, Egypt’s new education system, since 2017.
Nelly is the Co-founder and Director of Newton Education Services and is the Advisor to the Minister of Education on Early Childhood Education and Education Policy. She holds a Master’s degree in International Education Policy from Harvard University; a Master of Arts in Middle East Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, both from The American University in Cairo.
