The Center for Migration and Refugee Studies at The American University in Cairo invites you to an engaging lecture on: Far-right terror, the securitization of refugees, and transnational geopolitics in the EU.

Following the September 11 attacks and the increasing focus on Islamist terrorism, far-right terrorism in Europe has largely been overlooked, while refugees are often portrayed as security threats. In this talk, using the securitization framework, Professor Christian Kaunert will examine the connection between the rise of the far right and the securitization of refugees and migrants. He will help us understand the hybrid tactics used by the far right, the societal conflicts they generate and the transnational tools and policies implemented within the EU to address these issues.
