Yasser Arafat, Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization, addressed the United Nations General Assembly on November 13, 1974. The invitation for him to speak at the UN, and the speech itself, are landmarks in the history of Palestinian nationalism.

Join Michael Reimer, professor of history, Sultan Al-Qasimi Department of History, for a talk that reflects on the text and context of the speech, focusing on Arafat's interpretation of Zionist history and his comments about the nature of the conflict over the land of Palestine.
