Come join us for this public lecture, which offers an overview of the impact that the suspension of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) has had on the MENA region. It begins by tracing the origins of USRAP and its evolution since its establishment in the 1980s. The lecture explores how the program became one of the key legal immigration pathways for African and Middle Eastern immigrants seeking resettlement in the United States. It also critically examines the challenges USRAP currently faces under the present administration, including ongoing legal battles surrounding its termination.
