Join Carla Carmona, Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Seville, for a talk introducing a new form of testimonial injustice—a phenomenon she calls the “testimonial void.” This concept marks a significant expansion of the original framework proposed by Miranda Fricker in Epistemic Injustice (2007).

The testimonial void arises when a speaker withholds epistemic material based on an ethically and epistemically flawed assumption that the potential hearer lacks the capacity to engage with it meaningfully. Carmona will explore the implications of this concept for feminist philosophy, with a focus on the epistemic treatment of women in Francoist Spain.
