This interesting, AUC community only, special topics lecture will discuss the social challenges and legal obstacles women face when discussing gender based violence crimes in Egypt, shedding a comparative light on the United States, given the recent election results.

This event will host Counselor Mohamed Samir Ahmed, spokesperson of the Administrative Prosecution Authority (APA) in Egypt, an independent lecturer in Political Science and Gender-Based Violence Crimes. The event will be moderated by CASAR Assistant to Director and Adjunct Faculty Yasmeen El-Ghazaly.

This lecture is sponsored by the Cynthia Nelson Institute for Gender and Women's Studies at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, AUC.

This special lecture is part of the undergraduate course: AMST 1091 - Exploring Feminist Perspectives in Egypt and the US.

*This lecture is restricted to the AUC community only and will be presented in Arabic since specific articles of the Egyptian law will be discussed in detail.
