Details
This exhibition, in collaboration with the Getty Foundation, explores the intersections of art and science in Islamic visual culture from the 8th century to the present day through the lens of “wonder” as defined by Zakariyya ibn Muhammad al-Qazwini in his 13th-century cosmography, ʿAjaʾib al-Makhluqat wa Gharaʾib al-Mawjudat. An unfiltered behind-the-scenes look at such a high-profile exhibition will reveal the intricacies and problems of displaying Islamic cultural heritage today.
