John Elkington

John Elkington, known as the “Godfather of Sustainability” and an “Ambassador from the Future,” is a pioneering figure in the global sustainability movement. With a focus on business and markets, he has advised companies worldwide for over 50 years. He co-founded four companies—Environmental Data Services (ENDS), John Elkington Associates (later Countercurrent and Elkington Ventures), SustainAbility, and Volans—all of which remain active. Elkington has served on more than 80 boards and advisory boards and was a faculty member of the World Economic Forum from 2002-2008. He coined influential terms such as “green growth,” “triple bottom line,” and “green swan,” and has authored 21 books, including the Green Consumer Guide series. His latest book, Tickling Sharks: How We Sold Business on Sustainability, was published in June 2024. Elkington has received numerous accolades, including the 2021 World Sustainability Award.

Jed Emerson has spent over thirty years exploring aspects of the purpose of capital and nature of value. Currently Chief Impact Officer with AlTi-Global, Senior Fellow with Impact Assets, Board member with Katapult Foundation (Norway) and Board Advisor to Happiness Capital-HK, Emerson works with colleagues exploring various organizational and investor opportunities to optimize not only financial value, but blended value consisting of financial, social and environmental components. Co-Author of the first book on impact investing as well as multiple books on social entrepreneurship and capital innovation, Emerson has held faculty appointments at Harvard, Stanford, and Oxford Universities, among other academic institutions. He is currently a visiting fellow with the University of Zurich and Heidelberg University. As founder of Blended Value Group, Emerson works with a variety of investors, foundations and funds seeking to innovate on traditional investment and management practices within a dynamic, changing world.
