Join the AUC-FEPS Political Science Joint Seminar for a talk on “Arts-Based Nonviolent Action in Conflict-Affected Societies: The Case of AnaTaban in South Sudan” with Mai Osama Sholkamy, Assistant Lecturer of Political Science at Cairo University.
In societies where violence dominates, how can we understand the role of nonviolent action, especially when rooted in the arts? This talk explores AnaTaban (“I am tired” in Arabic), an arts initiative founded in South Sudan in 2016. Drawing on this case, the study develops a theoretical synthesis between arts-based nonviolent action and everyday peace, arguing that such initiatives aim to foster a broad vision of peace and active citizenship.
