Egypt shares the fate of all Global South countries in facing the perils of climate change. The impending climate change consequences and rising temperatures require that Egypt quickly wean off its dependence on fossil fuels by transitioning toward renewable energy. This would significantly reduce the country’s carbon emissions and herald a more sustainable energy consumption structure, as per the terms of the 2016 Paris Agreement.

Formulating a just and equitable energy transition policy remains an enormous challenge for policymakers. “Just transition” thus emerges as a key concept in undertaking this policy in a manner which considers labor and vulnerable community rights.

In light of this, we invite you to attend our “Just Energy Transition: Challenges and Opportunities” webinar with Fuad Abulfotuh —Professor Emeritus at the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research, Alexandria University to discuss the just energy transition in Egypt.

The webinar will be conducted over Zoom (Live on Facebook).
The webinar will be moderated by Ahmed Khalaf—Alternative Policy Solutions.
