Details
Co-curated by Lara Baladi and Bassem Yousri, with assistant curator Jasmine Keshk, and presented under the umbrella of the Department of the Arts, with the support of the Visual Art Program’s Director, Elizabeth Rauh, the exhibition Solidarity Now draws inspiration from the 1978 International Art Exhibition for Palestine.
It delves into contemporary interpretations of solidarity in its various forms—personal, political and universal. Solidarity is expressed in diverse ways, from acts of kindness and communal efforts to collective resistance.
This exhibition features works from AUC students across various majors, selected through an open call to creatively address the theme, highlighting how we unite, support and uplift one another in today's world.
The exhibition features the works of: Salma Abdelmoneim, Balqis Al-Jallad, Mark Ayman, Al-Hasan Ali Bataher, Salah Eddine Boulenouar, Madiha El-Naggar, Farah El-Shawarby, Maya El-Sherbiny, Nancy Faisal, Jana Hassan, Noor Montasser, Nayer Nakhla, Salma Yasser Omar, Mira Riad, Nada Amr Roshdy, Jana Salem, Jeanine Sumrain and the Visual Arts Student Association.
Special thanks to Technical Operations Officer Mohamed Talaat, Installation Technician Karam Afifi, Senior Specialist-Multimedia and Technology Moataz Abdel Aziz, Media Technician Mazen Hussein and exhibition poster designers, Farah El-Shawarby and Jana Salem.
This year’s AUC Visual Arts Open Exhibition is co-sponsored by the Visual Arts Student Association, Al Quds Club, Anthropology Sociology Egyptology Association and the Political Science Student Association.
