Join this intriguing talk featuring Rachida Chih, Research Fellow, The French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), as she attempts to answer two interrelated questions: How did al-Jazûlî's Dala'il become one of the most popular texts in the Islamic Sunni tradition and what influence did this text have on religious and social life in Ottoman Egypt?

To answer the question of the dissemination of the Dala'il, she will examine the sites and channels of its production and transmission, and to do so, she will situate this prayer book in relation to other devotional texts in what she will call the ‘economy of prophetic piety’
