With the start of the new academic year and in light of the latest reforms announced by the Ministry of Education, the debate regarding the philosophy of education in Egypt is reignited. What is the educational process's purpose? Is it to build human capacity or to prepare individuals for the labor market?

To answer these questions and to understand how the newest cascade of policies fits into this broader debate, Alternative Policy Solutions at The American University in Cairo is hosting a public talk titled "The Philosophy of Education in Egypt," featuring prominent politician Hossam Badrawi and education expert Kamal Mougheeth. Soha Abdelaty, the Deputy Director of Alternative Policy Solutions, will moderate the talk.
