Details
Over the past two to three decades, feminist philosophy has emerged as one of the most productive subfields within the discipline. It continues to introduce new questions, topics and concepts that shape, enrich and invigorate debates across a broad array of philosophical areas.
Join the talk with Ariane Schenck, Assistant Professor at the University of Bielefeld, Germany, as she presents some common features and objectives that are characteristic of most approaches in feminist philosophy. Schenck will discuss recent examples of original and formative feminist contributions in contemporary metaphysics, epistemology, moral philosophy and the history of philosophy. Topics will include themes in the metaphysics of gender, the influential concept of "epistemic injustice" (coined by Fricker) and the lively debate surrounding so-called "adaptive preferences." Additionally, Schenck will highlight some recent developments in the history of philosophy, particularly regarding the reformation of the traditional "canon."
