Non-profit organizations have been facing growing demand as the country’s more vulnerable seek protection from staggered economic development. Can the civic sector help mitigate the impact of increasing economic hardships and austerity measures in Egypt? Can these organizations compensate for the state’s shrinking role in providing socio-economic protection for the vulnerable?

The talk will discuss the current role of the civic sector in Egypt, its areas of focus, and the challenges it faces. It will critically examine the potential impact of the work they provide on Egypt’s inclusive development.
