Noha El-Mikawy

Noha El-Mikawy is dean of the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) at the American University in Cairo (AUC). Noha is the former regional director of the Ford Foundation, Middle East and North Africa office (from 2012 to 2022). Between 2005-2012 Noha served as team leader for governance at the UNDP Regional Center (based in Lebanon, then in Egypt) where she provided support on governance reform in Egypt, Tunisia, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Jordan, and Kuwait. Noha also served as policy advisor at the UNDP Oslo Governance Center in Norway, where she supervised UNDP’s global project on governance assessments, organized international convenings on legal empowerment of the poor, and edited a UNDP-UN Women guidebook on gender-sensitive service delivery.
May Al-Ibrashy
May al-Ibrashy is the founder and chair of Megawra-Built Environment Collective and coordinator of the Athar Lina Initiative. This participatory initiative conserves the heritage of al-Khalifa in Historic Cairo and conceives it as a driver for community development. An architectural engineer with 30 years of field experience in conservation and heritage management and a Ph.D. in archaeology from the University of London, she is an honorary Professor of Practice at the School of Oriental and African Studies, the University of London and the recipient of the Prince Claus Impact Award.
Youssef Nassef
Director
Adaptation Division, UNFCCC, and chair, World Adaptation Science Programme
Youssef Nassef has led the adaptation workstreams under the UNFCCC since their inception. He possesses over 30 years of experience in diplomacy and international environmental policy, and is a seconded diplomat from the Egyptian Foreign Service. He holds a PhD in International Technology Policy and Management and a MALD in International Environmental Policy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, as well as an MA in Middle East Studies and a BSc in Computer Science and Physics from the American University in Cairo.
