The American University in Cairo is proud to host the Space Apps Cairo hackathon in its 9th edition. Since 2015, it has been ranked amongst the most successful city hackathons worldwide; having the largest number of registered applicants globally, producing the largest number of on-site solutions
The Hackathon
Since its inception in 2012, NASA’s Space Apps Challenge has become the world’s largest global hackathon, engaging thousands of citizens each year across the globe in a 48-hour global hackathon to work with NASA in building innovative solutions for challenges using open source data.
The Challenge
The hackathon embraces collaborative problem solving with a goal of producing relevant open-source solutions to advance space exploration missions and improve life on Earth. It is open to anyone who has a passion for making a difference and is focused on developing real solutions to global challenges.
Space Apps Cairo
Space Apps Cairo is organized by IEEE Egypt Section, part of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), partnered by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo as the Official Sponsor, The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) as the Main Partner, and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research “Innovators Support Fund (ISF)” as a Strategic Partner.
