Animals and Humans in Egypt's Contemporary Cities

الحيوان والإنسان في المدينة المصرية المعاصرة

طالما تشارك الإنسان والحيوان الفضاء المديني في مصر الحديثة والمعاصرة، من حيوانات الجر والأحمال (الدواب) إلى حيوانات الذبح والأضاحي، إلى الحيوانات الأليفة المنزلية، فضلا عن الحيوانات البرية غير الأليفة في أماكنها القانونية وغير القانونية. وكلما تغير عمران المدينة تأثر بذلك الحيوان، في سلوكه وعلاقاته بالبشر، وربما في وجوده من الأساس. وبالمقابل، فإن تغيّر سلوك الحيوان في المدينة يدلّ على وجود تغيرات اجتماعية جديرة بالدراسة.

في ظل التغيرات العمرانية الهائلة التي تمر بها المدن المصرية المعاصرة، ينظم مركز الدراسات والوثائق القانونية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية (سيداج) بالتعاون مع بحوث القاهرة للعلوم الاجتماعية ورشة بحثية حول الحيوان والإنسان في المدينة المصرية المعاصرة. ويدعو الباحثين المتهمين إلى حضور هذه الورشة والتي ستتناول الموضوعات ذات الصلة بدراسة وجود الحيوان وسلوكه وأنماط علاقاته بالإنسان في فضاء المدينة المصرية.

تعقد الورشة يومي الأربعاء والخميس ٤ و٥ أكتوبر ٢٠٢٣ في قاعة رقم ٦٠٢ بمبنى الهيل هاوس بالجامعة الأمريكية بالقاهرة - ميدان التحرير.

Invitation to attend a research workshop on
"Animals and Humans in the Egypt's Contemporary Cities"

As humans and animals coexist in the urban space of modern and contemporary Egypt, from working animals and livestock to sacrificial animals, domestic pets, and even wild animals in their legal and illegal habitats, the animal is influenced by the urbanization of the city. This influence is reflected in its behavior and relationships with humans, and perhaps even its very existence. Conversely, changes in animal behavior in the city indicate significant social changes worth studying.

Amidst the massive urban changes taking place in contemporary Egyptian cities, the Centre for Economic, Legal, and Social Study and Documentation (CEDEJ) in collaboration with the Cairo Papers in Social Science is organizing a research workshop on "Animals and Humans in the Egypt's Contemporary Cities."
Researchers are invited to attend this workshop, which will explore topics related to the study of the presence of animals, their behavior and patterns of human-animal relationships in the Egyptian urban space.
