Japanese Tea Workshop

The Japanese Tea Workshop introduces the AUC community to"Chanoyu";
a choreographed art of hospitality with a cultural and philosophical context involving various arts and crafts that resonate with curation, visual communication, and experience design.

In our weekly Practice (Okeiko), you will learn the basic steps of preparing a bowl of green powdered tea (Matcha) in a formal way using traditional Japanese and local utensils. We will discuss the history and theory of "Teaism" as we progress in our workshop on campus.
