Screenings, workshops, and networking opportunities
Animatex is funded by the EU in collaboration with EUNIC Egypt.
If you are an artist, animator, filmmaker, media producer, designer, or even just a motion picture lover, get ready for Animatex Egypt’s biggest animation event!
Bringing together the movers and shakers working in Egypt’s burgeoning animation industry, our downtown campus will come alive with workshops, screenings, talks, and competitions.
A weekend packed with short and feature film screenings from all around the world, intensive professional workshops, competitions, masterclasses from international guest artists, talks and discussions, exhibitions, VR space, a game area, networking activities, and a children’s program too.
A program that includes screenings of more than 7 feature films and more than 70 short films from all over the world, including Egypt and the MENA region in official competitions where awards will be given to the best animated independent, graduation, and commissioned films.
The International guest artists list includes:
- Joseph Wallace from Aardman Academy in the UK
- Matías Bossié from Argentina
- Alexander Gratzer from Austria
- Alessandro Rak from Italy
- Maya Fidawi from Lebanon
- Sofia Khyari from Morocco
- Many other guests are from Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, France, and Lebanon.
The opening day program will be:
- 6:00 - 7:30; The opening of Animatex, "The Inventor," a stop-motion animation about the life of Leonardo Davinci
- 7:30 - 8:00; Opening Ceremony and screening of the selected films in the 30 Seconds Challenge
- 8:00 - 8:30; The screening of two films from Disney's Kizazi Moto, "First Totem Problems" and "Stardust," featuring the work of several Egyptian artists.
- 8:30 - 9:30; Industry Talk titled “Feats of Clay: Life in Stop Motion" by Stuart Messinger from Aardman Academy, UK

As a capstone to the fourth edition, Animatex is organizing an assortment of free screenings of the top Animatex 2023 films exclusively for AUC students and alumni.
Join us in Ewart Memorial Hall on Tuesday, September 12 and watch the most outstanding animated films and prizewinners from the official contests.
