About Kenopsia, Egypt 2022
Duration: 9 minutes
Language: Arabic with English subtitles

Immerse yourself in the hauntingly beautiful world of Kenopsia by Mohamed Omar. This film delves into the essence of empty buildings, abandoned spaces, and the ambiance they hold. Brace yourself for a captivating exploration of architectural photography accompanied by an evocative soundtrack. The film is about an old man who drives back to the now abandoned city of Cairo to reach his old home that he remembers from his childhood. Longing for his home, he takes us on a small journey through our protagonist which is the decayed city of Cairo. Through his eyes and the scars on the old city, we piece together what happened to it and what is the reason behind him having to leave it along with the rest of the population in this far but not-so-fictional future. This student-short animated film was made to explore the dangers of uncontrolled overpopulation, pollution, and climate change.
