Join us during the assembly hour to meet with Nourhan Tewfik, a former history minor student who has recently consulted on the Egyptian/Arabic segments of Netflix’s hit show The Crown.

Nourhan Tewfik

Arts Journalist, Translator and Researcher

Tewfik is an arts journalist, translator and researcher. Her writing has appeared in Abu Dhabi’s The National, Riyadh’s Arab News, Beirut’s Institute for Palestine Studies and The Outpost , London’s Shubbak Festival, and Cairo’s Ahram Online and Al Ahram Weekly.

She has worked with Freie Universität Berlin (Berlin, Germany), the Arab Council for the Social Sciences (Beirut, Lebanon), and the American University in Cairo (Cairo, Egypt). 

Tewfik has an MA in Arabic Studies (Modern Arabic Literature in Translation, 2019), and a BA in Political Science/History Minor (2013). 

Between January 2020 and March 2021, she was research officer at the American University in Cairo (AUC)’s Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS).
