Family businesses constitute a pivotal part of the private sector of any economy. Egypt and the Middle East are rooted in society and the economy, yet more companies discontinue after the first generation than those that do. Members of the same family may share many core values. Yet, intergenerational differences and the challenge of managing differences in business vision and strategy make things more complex as new family members come into the scene. One of the biggest concerns voiced by family businesses is how to smoothly involve the new generations and how to best succession plan.
If you are about to get involved in your family’s business or are already in the transition phase, this is for you! If you are starting to explore ways to apply the next generation in your family in the business, bring them along and join this discussion. This talk, happening in Al Waleed Hall, Room P071, AUC Main Campus, next Sunday, March 12, from 1-2 PM, is an excellent chance for intergenerational dialogue and reflection on insights from the next generations around the region concerning their family businesses.
