Ahmed Mansour, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina's Writing and Scripts Center, will be giving a talk on the ancient scripts present in Egypt, focusing on hieroglyphs, both ancient and those found in a contemporary setting. He is an Egyptologist by study and a researcher in the history of Arabic printing and the history of writing. He published The Bulaq Press in 2005, a monograph that relates the history of Egypt's first government-owned printing house and for which he was awarded the Incentive State Award in Social Sciences in 2008. He has been active in the field in numerous ways besides writing and researching. (Granshan competition expert, founding member of the International Association of Printing Museums (IAPM) in Cheongju, South Korea, to mention a few examples) The ancient scripts he will be presenting are considered historical and visual wealth for designers, historians of art and the broader public.
