How do we come to understand something new? How do we design learning in a way that helps people understand something new? Join Manu Kapur, professor and chair of Learning Sciences and Higher Education at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, as he describes mechanisms for initial learning and how we can design for them. Kapur will illustrate his research program on Productive Failure and connect it with active learning and flipped learning literature.

This talk is part of the Center of Learning and Teaching 20th Anniversary Symposium.
