Scholars were invited to submit an abstract of their research on family business in February prior to the event for a chance to meet with academics from various institutions and vistas to share and debate their work on family business management from different perspectives during the event.
The event is a chance to learn about the best practices for a successful and a sustainable family business across generations from academics’ research covering the most challenging and relevant areas specific to a family business.
Family-owned businesses are a driving force for the development of the Egyptian, Middle Eastern, and African economies, accounting for more than 80 percent of GDP. As a backbone for economic growth, social development, competitiveness, and employability, it is essential to empower family business leaders to achieve growth and sustainability. Recognizing the impactful role that family businesses play in the economy, and the need for more in-depth and experience-based understanding of the dynamics of family businesses; this virtual event, seeks to share the academic knowledge and specialized research findings and recommendations on typical challenges such as succession planning, inter-generational leadership, governance models, and business and financing models, with the objective of assisting family business to implement the best practices conducive to growth and sustainability.
The research presentations and discussions will cover the following areas:
Strategy and management
Family and governance
Risk and finance
Each of the above focus areas will be covered in a 10-minute presentation, followed by a 10-minute discussion and Q&A to allow family business executives and leaders to deliberate, discuss and have their questions answered by academic experts on the topic.
