Flute & Bow take the stage.

Award-winning Rania Omar on flute leads this excellent ensemble performing a unique mix of Eastern and Western musical styles accessible to all.

Flute & Bow is a unique formation founded by an award-winning flutist Rania Omar. Since its foundation in 2018, Flute & Bow has grown significantly in its repertoire and audience interest. The ensemble's line-up features flute accompanied by the string players: Mohamed Sharara (violin), Mahmoud Zakaria (viola), Mohamed Ahmed (cello), Karim Wassef (double bass), as well as Mohamed Arafa on percussion (cajoon, tabla, req…), Feras Mokhtar (keyboard).

With the repertoire presenting tango and dance music, the flute becomes a protagonist, allowing the listeners to rediscover the beauty of this instrument.

The band transposes the Oriental compositions - in particular tangos and dance music - onto flute, giving it a new and very different color to the known works. The presence of flute - instead of nay - makes those compositions even more accessible to both Western and Oriental ears.

Tango Nostalgia is an evening presenting known works in a unique instrumental setting, taking the audience on a journey of memories.
