Join this Gerhart Center Webinar Series session featuring Mohsen Sarhan, CEO of The Egyptian Food Bank and moderated by Hana El Sadat, humanitarian and philanthropist. Under the title "The Aftermath of the COVID 19: The New Social Impact Ecosystem", this series aims to discuss concepts that are currently not mainstream and may (or perhaps should) become mainstream in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Egyptian Food Bank

Mohsen Sarhan, a nonprofit executive, with a research interest at the nexus of social mobility, innovation, and inclusive growth. Mohsen lives and leads with simplicity, authenticity, and accountability. He is the CEO of the Egyptian Food Bank, the largest nonprofit in Egypt, and the inspiration behind more than 88 food banks globally. He fights with 400 professionals everyday for a world without hunger. Sarhan is also the co-founder of “OLFA,” the region’s first evidence-based mental health charity, and “Athar” the leading social impact assessment firm. He also serves on the boards of The Social Takaful Foundation (previously the Winter Fund), and the “Awladna” charity trust fund. Until 2020, he served on the directorship committee of the Global Association of Fundraising Professionals as president of the MENA Chapter. Sarhan holds a BSc in Economics from Cairo University, a GD in International Markets from the Arab Academy, and two Master degrees from The American University in Cairo and Harvard Kennedy School of Government in the US, both in Public Administration.

Hana El Sadat, a passionate humanitarian and philanthropist. She has experience in the field of international development and has been actively engaged in charity work. She is the founder of Neya, an online platform that supports community engagement and collaborations that are in line with the sustainable development goals. She continuously seeks to be part of organizations and any community responsible initiatives. She is a big supporter of social enterprises. In addition, Hana is the executive director of the Neya Foundation founded in April 2021. She also sits on the board of the Egyptian Food Bank. Hana studied at Northeastern University perusing her degree of BA in International Affairs with a minor in Political Science, concentrating in Middle East Studies. She is continuing her education at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) to receive her MSc in Sustainable Development, concentrating in Development Management this year.
