Details

In celebration of the centennial of the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, AUC Press and Egypt Exploration Society are organizing a book talk with Prof. Aidan Dodson titled "The Modern Resurrection of Tutankhamun". Event will take place in Ewart Memorial Hall, AUC Tahrir Cultural Center (TCC).

While the tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered a century ago, the study of the king goes back nearly a century before that. In this lecture, Professor Dodson will look back at how the king was first rediscovered by early Egyptologists, and the various theories about him were been proposed over the year. It also considers what extra information the finding of his tomb actually added to our knowledge of his life and reign, and the vicissitudes suffered by the king, his memory and his remains over the past century.

Prof. Aidan Dodson is a world-renowned egyptologist, historian, and author of more than 25 books including his soon-to-be released book Tutankhamun, King of Egypt: His Life and Afterlife.
