Join this Willard W. Brown International Business Leadership seminar featuring Sung Joo Park, emeritus professor at the KAIST Business School in Seoul, Korea, former dean and vice president of KAIST, and founding president of the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools. The session will be moderated by Nizar Becheikh, associate professor of strategy and innovation management at AUC School of Business.

The session will explore what Asian innovation is and how the three representative companies (Samsung, Toyota, and TSMC) achieved success. The speaker will also discuss the critical innovation factors, their cultural implications and their future.

Professor Sung Joo Park is the former dean and vice president of KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). He is currently a professor emeritus at KAIST Business School. Holding a Ph.D. from Michigan State University, he was also the founding president of AAPBS (Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools).

He served as a board member of the AACSB and the GFME (Global Foundation for Management Education) and is an advisor to EFMD. He also served as an advisor to Samsung Group and is a lifetime member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology.

Associate Professor of Strategy and Innovation Management

Nizar Becheikh is an associate professor of strategy and innovation Management at The American University in Cairo School of Business. He served as interim dean of the School from January to December 2017 and associate dean for graduate studies and research from 2013 to 2018. He also served as director of the EMBA, MBA, and CEMS/MIM programs. Since 2017, he has served as a board member of the Association of African Business Schools (AABS). He earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration and an MBA in International Management from Laval University (Canada).

Becheikh teaches strategy, innovation management, and entrepreneurship, i.e., undergraduate and (Executive) MBA programs. His current research interests focus on political economy in

the Arab region, innovation paths and best practices in developing countries, and managing growth and innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises in Arab countries.
