The US Embassy in Egypt and the School of Continuing Education (SCE) of the American University in Cairo (AUC) welcome distinguished American musicians to Egypt in another enriching form of cultural diplomacy through jazz. In addition to their highly anticipated performances in the annual Cairo Jazz Festival, these world-class musicians are engaging communities across Cairo and Alexandria through masterclasses, various workshops for beginners and professionals, special performances, and a public talk on the connection between creativity and wellness.

Two ensembles will be visiting Egypt: the first group is a duo of Steve Sandberg and Zach Brock. Sandberg is a three-time Emmy-nominated composer and pianist. Brock is a two-time Grammy award-nominated composer and violinist. The other group is a trio that includes Egypt Fulbright alum Dave Meder, a prominent pianist, composer, and educator; Michael Piolet, a drummer with extensive academic and performance experience; and accomplished bassist and composer Ben Tiberio, who has shared his talents across the world. There is a long tradition of jazz as a component of cultural exchange.

SCE is honored to work with the US Embassy and these outstanding musicians to bring this next version of American jazz diplomacy to Egypt.
