The world has become different more than a year into a global pandemic. Education and assessment are no exception. The new reality has come with many changes. Those changes sometimes challenge educators and the entire educational system, but many of those challenges have been transformed into great opportunities.
Hot issues such as using technology in assessment, high-stakes exams, test designs, and inclusive assessments are increasing daily interest. ILACE 2022 is keen to shine a light on these issues during this year's conference. ELT practitioners and assessment specialists will discuss and share their expertise in various critical areas: test development and design, online assessment, assessment literacy, artificial intelligence in language assessment, alternative assessment, and learning-oriented assessment. Therefore, teacher professional development, including conferences, must hinge more and more on assessment awareness and expertise to promote and maintain quality learning and teach as expected by all stakeholders involved, including learners, their current and future employers, and others in society.
ILACE 2022 seeks to address these areas by inviting proposals that help us bridge the gap between theory and practice, supporting teachers in their assessment literacy and ultimately their ability to enact meaningful, appropriate, and accurate classroom assessments to help students obtain quality learning.

Speakers
Mina Patel
Mina Patel has been working in the field of education for over 25 years as a teacher, trainer, materials writer, project manager and now Assessment Research Manager. She has worked in the UK, Greece, Thailand and Sri Lanka and now divides her time between Malaysia and the UK. With the British Council in Malaysia, Mina worked as a Project Manager for English language teaching. This involved working closely with the Ministry of Education on developing materials and training to support English language teachers nationwide. As part of this work she authored a series of Literature Resource materials for Malaysian schools. As Assessment Research Manager her work involves working with institutions and academics on assessment-related projects globally, managing assessment research grants, leading on work on impact for Exams and chairing the British Council Language Assessment Literacy Board.
