Egypt's First Silent Film (1923) Screened with Live Music
Experience a multimedia presentation of cross-cultural music performed by emerging Austrian-Egyptian violin virtuoso Nadine Weber. Watch the first Egyptian silent film, Barsoum Looking for a Job (by Mohamed Bayoumi, 1923) while listening to live music composed by AUC Professor Mohamed Abdelwahab Abdelfattah. This exceptional homage to Egyptian culture will be complemented by a performance of Aram Khachaturian’s dazzling Violin Concerto in D-minor. East meets West in this piece as Khachaturian integrates the sounds of his native Armenia into classical forms. David Davlianidze will perform the piano accompaniment. This event is co-sponsored by the Austrian Cultural Forum. Free admission, live streaming and open to the public. Due to Covid-19, seats are limited, and guests will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis.
