When we talk about Scale Up, the first thought that comes to our mind is technology companies. More than 68 percent of the world's population (3.2 billion people) represents the income Base of the Pyramid. As social entrepreneurs, we can create companies capable of democratizing goods and services and serving the base of the pyramid, making our companies a Social Scale Up.
About the Speaker:
Guillermo Jaime is a Mexican social entrepreneur dedicated to creating value for marginalized rural communities. He is the founder and president of Social Global Leaders. This holding supplies services such as housing, clean energy, water, health, and education to the base of the economic pyramid in several countries, including Mexico, the United States, and Guatemala.
Guillermo Jaime began his professional career at the international construction products and services company Cemex, where he held different positions. After more than eight years in this company (1994-2003), Jaime created his first Social Company to offer products focused on construction for the base of the economic pyramid concentrate on innovation, with new materials and methodology for self-construction. Since 2009, his company has built more than 70,000 thousand houses in areas of extreme poverty in Mexico. Intending to serve this economic sector in different deficiencies, in 2018 it created Social Global Leaders, one of the first social holding companies in the world, which brings together other companies in which it has participated such as Ecofiltro, MIA, PatriMex and The Pointer Fund to bring products and services in the areas of housing, clean energy, water, health and education to the base of the economic pyramid at a global level.
