In this talk, Alyssa Gilbert will speak as chair of the COP26 Universities Network in the UK and explain how she helped build this network from just an idea to a group of over 80 UK universities delivering a wide range of activities before and during COP26 in the UK, and with plans for continued impact across policy, education, public engagement, research and more.

Alyssa Gilbert is the Director of Policy and Translation at the Grantham Institute - Climate Change and Environment at the Imperial College London, where she connects relevant research across the university with policy-makers and businesses. She is also the chair of the COP26 Universities Network, which brings together academic expertise on climate change and was formed ahead of the international negotiations in November 2021. Prior to joining the university, she worked at a specialist energy and climate consultancy for nearly 12 years on a range of climate change mitigation and adaptation topics. Gilbert has worked with the UK and many other national governments and at the international level. She has also been a member of the Natural Environment Council’s Advisory Network.
