This Gerhart Center Webinar Series session titled Systems Thinking for Social Change will feature David Peter Stroh, author, Systems Thinking for Social Change: A Practical Guide for Solving Complex Problems, Avoiding Unintended Consequences, and Achieving Lasting Results.

Why do our best intentions to improve social system performance often fall short of expectations – or even make matters worse? How can we learn to work with underlying forces in a complex social system to improve its performance in sustainable ways significantly?
This presentation will attempt to answer these questions and explain critical differences between conventional and systems thinking, a four-stage process for leading sustainable system-wide change, essential tools for thinking systemically, and why our good intentions to achieve social change often fall short.

Examples will be drawn from projects related to ending homelessness, reducing starvation, increasing equitable access to quality education and health care, and mitigating climate change.
