We are delighted to be hosting a virtual panel on "Arab Media Between Conflict and Peace." The panel, hosted in advance of our upcoming issue on Media and Peace, will discuss how media hampers or promotes peace in the region.

Our distinguished panelists will examine media perspectives on the conflicts in the region and the feminist role. Professor Emeritus of Journalism and Public Diplomacy at the University of Southern California, Philip Seib, will be speaking on the use of media by Israel and Hamas; Professor Christa Salamandra, Deputy Chair of Anthropology at Lehman College and the Graduate Center, the City University New York will be discussing the situation in Syria; Professor Sahar Khamis, Associate Professor of Communication, University of Maryland, College Park, will be discussing Arab women's gendered activisms amid conflicts and derailed democratization. Jalel Harchaoui, researcher and analyst of North African affairs, will be discussing the latest developments in Libya.
