About the series:
The Egyptian financial sector has faced several challenges over the past few years. With the different reforms taking place regarding digital transformations, financial inclusion, and entrepreneurial empowerment, many opportunities are arising.
The financial sector can play an integral role in Egypt's economy through availing financing to corporations to all sectors of the economy.
The Master of Science in Finance FinTalks series aims to build bridges between AUC and the financial sector in Egypt to allow our students to have a deeper and more thorough understanding of the leading players in the financial industry in Egypt. The series should also introduce our students to prospective careers in the financial sector. The series will cover the different parts of the economic sectors, including banking and non-banking (the Egyptian stock market, factoring and leasing, mortgage and insurance).

Mohamed Ashraf is chief technical analyst for Commercial International Brokerage Company (CIBC), one of Egypt’s top-ranked brokerage houses. CIBC is the securities brokerage division of CI-Capital; the premier investment bank in Egypt with market-leading leasing, microfinance, investment banking, securities brokerage, asset management and research franchises, CI-Capital is totally owned by Bank Misr. Prior to this, he was head of the Technical Analysis Desk for Dynamic Securities Brokerage Company – CI-Capital member.
Ashraf served as a board member and vice president for the Middle East and Africa region in the International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA) from 2010 till 2016. During this period he implemented MOU agreement between IFTA and the United Arab Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA), MOU agreement between IFTA and the Capital Market Authority in Sultanate Oman (CMA), and he is also responsible for translating the CFTe bank of questions into the Arabic language and he is responsible of correcting the Arabic exams till the current time. He also served as a board member in the Egyptian Society of Technical Analysts (ESTA) from 2011 till 2015, and he is a key education committee member in ESTA since year 2007 till the present time.
Ashraf teaches Technical Analysis at many financial institutions and universities for more than 15 years; most notably the annual Egyptian Stock Market Conference at the International Conference Center Hall, The Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority in Cairo, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), the Arab Federation of Exchanges (AFE), the Securities and Commodities Authority ESCA in its headquarters in Dubai, the Capital Market Authority in the Sultanate of Oman, Capital Markets Authority of the State of Kuwait, The American University in Cairo, the German University in Cairo (GUC), the annual portfolio management course held in the Egyptian Association of the Investment Management, courses held along with Thomson Reuters in Egypt for their special clients, the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences, the Faculty of Commerce in Cairo, Ain Shams Universities and Nile University.
Ashraf graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences, Cairo University. He is a Certified ESTA Technical Analyst CETA, a Certified Financial Technician (CFTe) and holds a Master's degree in Financial Technical Analysis (MFTA) from the International Federation of Technical Analysts IFTA.
