Join this session of the Gerhart Center Webinar Series titled "How social enterprises are meeting the challenges of healthcare access at the base of the income pyramid", which will be moderated by Dina Omar Ismail, CEO, Phoenix Consulting Group, and will be featuring Daphne Ngunjiri, CEO, Access Afya, B. P. Agrawal, president, Sustainable Innovations, Inc., and Hal Glasser, founder, and president of Health Impact Partnership, Inc.

This webinar will explore the critical role social enterprises can play through the perspectives of the three organizations and the challenges they face in improving access to basic healthcare at the base of the income pyramid.

Dr. Dina Omar a Cardiologist, a Philanthropist, a Revolutionary and an Entrepreneur. She began her journey after receiving her Bachelor Degree in Medicine from October 6 University, she then received her Master’s Degree in Cardiology from Cairo University as well as a Post Graduate diploma in hospital management from the American University in Cairo (AUC). She took another step and travelled to Lebanon where she worked as a Cardiologist in different hospitals, she was also a Lecturer of Cardiology in Beirut Arab University. Dr. Dina has always had an affinity towards social work and development; during her work in Beirut she was responsible for establishing Two Charity Organizations both working on conducting Medical Convoys and Campaigns in underprivileged areas throughout Lebanon. Throughout her career she built a massive network and got recognized by different governmental bodies, NGOs and private sector organizations in different countries including but not exclusive to Egypt, KSA, Morocco, United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Monaco and the United Arab Emirates.

Dr.  Daphne Ngunjiri is the CEO for Access Afya steering strategy on Access Afya’s mission in providing affordable quality care to people in informal settlements in Kenya. She has broad 11-year experience in healthcare as a practitioner and management having graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of medicine and Surgery (MBCHB) in 2009 and an MBA in Healthcare Management and policy from Strathmore Business School She is passionate about healthcare systems, data and analytics as tools to drive operational efficiency and clinical quality in healthcare.

He received Purpose Prize for social innovations; Lemelson – MIT award for enterprise sustainability, Energy Globe Foundation’s World award for environmental sustainability; and was a Drucker award finalist for non-profit innovations. He was an advisor to the Lemelson Center at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC. He consults with corporations on corporate social responsibility.
