In this workshop, you will learn the basics of SPSS, a major quantitative data analysis software, particularly in the social sciences. The workshop will teach you how to open and understand an SPSS file, gather descriptive information (example: means and standard deviations), and conduct basic analysis (regression, ANOVA). No prior experience with SPSS or any other data analysis software is required. This workshop is recommended for faculty and students who are new to SPSS or need a refresher and would like to conduct quantitative data analysis. However, it is recommended that students have previously taken or are currently enrolled in a basic statistics course.

Hassan Zaky, Ph.D. is a professor in the Psychology department in HUSS at AUC. Zaky joined AUC in 2000 as a research professor at SRC. He moved to Psychology in 2013; he is still affiliated with SRC as a research scholar. He received his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. He has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals and proceedings of international conferences and technical reports in the region. He is the editor and author of a textbook in demography in Arabic published by the Population Council. He was selected to participate in Masters and Ph.D. theses as a mentor or reader in Universities in Europe and the USA. He directed several studies and sample surveys, such as evaluating the health sector reform program in Egypt, fertility plateau in Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. He has been a consultant for several organizations such as the UNFPA, WHO, and the Population Council.
