These interactive workshops will cover integrating digital literacies in courses, including hands-on activities and take-aways that can be immediately implemented in your classroom and course design. Faculty will have a choice of 3 out of 5 workshops and can work individually or in pairs to design a digital literacy activity for their own class, which can be shared with others. For a track certificate of attendance, faculty should attend 3 out of 5 possible workshops. For a certificate of completion, faculty will contribute their activity or assignment idea towards the digital literacies toolkit, either as a novel idea or adaptation of an existing resource.

In this workshop, participants will explore the differences between digital skills and digital literacies, and examine their own motivations for teaching digital literacies to their students. They will apply some hands-on activities that involve “creative digital making” that they can use to inspire students, and explore resources containing ideas for other digital making and expression, via projects (e.g. podcasting, portfolios on the Digital Literacies Toolkit) or smaller assignments (e.g. DS106 Assignment Bank)
